We are pleased to announce that Adriaan DeVilliers, PE has joined LPI, Inc. as of February, 2014. Adriaan will be reporting to Paul Bruck of our Massachusetts office and is tasked with developing business for LPI based out of Florida, just south of Tampa.
Adriaan has a Master of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Florida (Gainesville) with his thesis in structural dynamics. He has more than 25 years experience as a consulting engineer in civil, structural, geotechnical and environmental engineering. The past 7 years Adriaan spent with Southern Nuclear focused on failure analysis and troubleshooting rotating equipment, structures and piping using vibration and other diagnostic technologies, typically to solve undesirable equipment and/or flow induced vibration problems. Most recently he was the fleet lead for implementing Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) technologies. While at Southern Nuclear, Adriaan helped solve numerous long standing equipment reliability problems, most notably with pumps and safety relief valves.
In a statement, Adriaan said: “My time with Southern Nuclear was one of the most exciting and challenging experiences of my career. It is there where I came to know about and worked with LPI, Inc. and rapidly developed respect for their unusually talented engineers. I am humbled by the trust LPI, Inc. placed in me and look forward to the most rewarding and exciting time of my career with them. Not only are these exciting times in the nuclear industry with a mix of new construction, aging infrastructure, and a retiring workforce which offer unusual consulting opportunities, Florida is itself an economic giant among the United States with significant markets in infrastructure, shipping, oil and gas, plastics, mining, aero-space and high tech industries supporting our defense forces and other economic sectors.”
Adriaan is a big tennis fan but lately developed a love for autocross and sports cars. He loves the outdoors and landscape photography. He will initially be located at 5003 Bay State Rd., Palmetto, FL 34221, and can be reached at (941) 776-4717, or at email@example.com
LPI recently used a motion amplification camera (MAC) system on a custom platform to measure vibrations on the main steam lines at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station.
