The Importance of Area in Probabilistic Degradation Models

Recently, Joseph Cluever, P.E. presented "The Importance of Area in Probabilistic Degradation Models" at a local chapter of ASME meeting. The purpose of his presentation was to bring awareness to a significant common deficiency of not including area in probabilistic models involving extreme-value-failures.This deficiency makes model application to different sized specimens difficult without relying on statistical assumptions that may not be valid. Mr. Cluever's presentation is available under the Conference Papers link on LPI's website. For more information please contact Joseph Cluever at jlcluever@lpiny.com
