Thomas Esselman

Dr. Thomas Esselman has over 35 years of experience in engineering, energy, and engineering management. He is a Principal in Lucius Pitkin, Inc. He was formerly the President of Altran North America, which was a subsidiary of Altran Technologies, SA, an international consulting company. He was also the President of Altran Corporation, an engineering consulting firm that Dr. Esselman founded in 1986. Dr. Esselman was previously with Westinghouse Electric Corporation.

He specializes in stress analysis, failure analysis, dynamics, seismic design and analysis, mechanical design, thermo-hydraulics, materials, materials degradation, and materials and system aging. Dr. Esselman consults frequently on power generation and delivery, generating plant design and operation, material degradation issues, plant and system aging issues, and materials evaluations. He has had responsibility for numerous interdisciplinary task forces, third party review teams, cross-functional problem solving projects, and technology planning activities.

Dr. Esselman is also a Lecturer at Harvard University. He developed and teaches a course entitled "Innovation in Science and Engineering".
